South East Queensland (SEQ) City Deal
One region; connected locally and competing globally
Since 2014, Mayors have consistently advocated for coordinated infrastructure investment and for a more sophisticated approach to managing regional planning. While infrastructure projects are a key focus for SEQ’s future transformation, the shared vision and coordinated reform between levels of government stands to deliver the biggest dividends.
The SEQ City Deal establishes a twenty-year partnership between the Australian Government, Queensland Government and the Council of Mayors (SEQ). Using the same commitment to collaboration that helped secure the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Deal demonstrates partners are committed to working together with industry to deliver region-shaping infrastructure.
With a combined $1.8 billion investment from the three levels of government, the foundation Deal offers a strong starting point, with a firm commitment to growing the Deal further into the future and working with industry to do this.
Delivery of the 29 commitments will build on existing investments by all levels of government and the private sector to generate thousands of local jobs, boost digital and transport connectivity, enhance liveability and support one of the fastest growing regions in the country. Projects will support the region to develop and deliver high-quality connectivity and community infrastructure. These projects will support the region’s booming population and complement broader work to deliver a successful Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2032.
