Jos Mitchell
Director | Redland City Council
The relaxed bayside lifestyle is what drew Jos Mitchell and her husband to Redlands to raise their three, now adult, children. As a child, Jos spent many school holidays out on the bay.
With a career history traversing both public and private sectors, Jos spent more than a decade working with the Queensland Police Service in metropolitan Brisbane and Central Queensland. She served as a general duties officer, police prosecutor and as a regional education and training officer.
She later co-founded a regional company supplying professional photographic and design services and grew it to attract a client base including national and international clients.
Jos has also worked within local government in New South Wales as a manager of Sustainable Communities, which included portfolios of Economic Development, Tourism and Events, Grants, Age and Disability, Youth, Before and After School Care, Libraries, Special Projects and Public Art.
In 2018 she became a nationally accredited mediator, dealing mostly with workplace conflict. She is very interested in workplace culture and wellbeing and has a passion for team building.
Jos has completed contract and consultancy work providing advice in relation to business development, process improvement and strategic planning in the private, community development and tertiary education sectors.
Jos has also served as a board director for regional development and water organisations in Central Queensland.
Redland City Council
Home to the crystal blue waters of southern Moreton Bay, which teems with an abundance of marine life, approximately 335km of coastline, beautiful hinterland and coastal villages – each with its own personality – a strong heritage, the oldest living culture on Earth, island gems just a short hop from Brisbane and so much more, Redlands Coast is an enviable destination for business and tourism alike.
An exhaustive consultation process led to the delivery of the Redlands Coast brand – it was one of the largest in Australia run by a local government for a place brand, with about 5,000 residents, business owners and visitors contributing to its development.
