We’re pleased to welcome the outcome of the Queensland Government’s Brisbane 2032 venues and infrastructure plan announced by Premier David Crisafulli MP and Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie MP.
Council of Mayors (SEQ) is proud to have initiated, championed and helped to secure an Olympic and Paralympic Games that will deliver catalytic infrastructure and transport investment desperately needed for our growing region.
The plan confirms more than $7.1 billion in state and federal funding towards generational event and community infrastructure for the south east and Queensland.
Additionally, it will accelerate catalytic investment in our region’s public transport with faster rail between Brisbane and Gold Coast, and new mass transit solutions connecting to Sunshine Coast Airport, and expansions along Brisbane’s growing eastern and northern corridors with funding now secured through the SEQ City Deal for a business case for new expansions to Brisbane Metro. We’re excited on an ongoing focus that boosts regional connectivity for communities across SEQ.
Plus the Games will create billions of dollars of procurement opportunities for local businesses across SEQ and the State.
The outcome of the 100-day Brisbane 2032 infrastructure and planning review marks a?line in the sand moment, providing much-needed?certainty as we work to deliver a?world-class Games. SEQ Councils have a critical role in delivering a successful Games and lasting legacy for Queensland.
We look forward to continuing to work with Games Delivery Partners to support lasting benefits for all SEQ councils.
