The Council of Mayors (SEQ) is pleased to announce the permanent appointment of Scott Smith to the position of Executive Director.

Many of you would recognise Scott as a familiar face at the Council of Mayors (SEQ), previously heading up the organisation’s development assessment and planning reform initiatives before moving into the role of Director, Portfolios and Projects.

Scott was instrumental in the delivery of the Council of Mayors’ recent (SEQ) Target 5 Days (accelerated DA) and DAPR OWLS planning reform projects. He brings a wealth of business and project management experience to the organisation, with more than a decade specifically working within the local government sector.

Scott’s appointment follows a strong finish to 2017, which included two successful international missions, an effective State Election campaign and the region’s first autonomous vehicle trial on the Sunshine Coast.

Melissa Fitzgerald, previously Media and Communications Coordinator, moves into the role of Advocacy and Engagement Manager as the organisation renews its role as the strong voice advocating for the interests of South East Queensland.
