The Mayors of South East Queensland (SEQ) have congratulated Scenic Rim Mayor, Cr John Brent, on his recognition in the 2015 Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Councillor John Brent received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his 21 years of continuous service as a Queensland Mayor, and his contribution to both Local Government and the agricultural industry.

Council of Mayors (SEQ) Chair Cr Graham Quirk joined his fellow Mayors in congratulating Cr John Brent on this prestigious honour.

“You would be hard-pressed to find someone more dedicated to their community than Cr Brent. His 21 years as Mayor forms part of 39 years of continuous service as a Councillor – an amazing personal achievement and outstanding demonstration of his commitment to the Scenic Rim,” said Cr Quirk.

“I speak on behalf of all the Mayors of SEQ when I offer my congratulations to John on his recognition in the 2015 Queen’s Birthday Honours List, and thank him for his lasting contribution to Local Government in Queensland.”

In addition to his service to the Scenic Rim, Cr Brent is the Deputy Chair of the Council of Mayors (SEQ) and Chair of the group’s Infrastructure and Planning Committee.
